  • Prenatal Care

This includes prenatal appointments every 4 weeks from 12-28 weeks, every 2 weeks from 28-36 weeks and weekly until delivery.

Prenatal care is essential for monitoring the health and development of both the expectant mother and her baby throughout pregnancy. Regular check-ups allow midwives to assess the mother's health, screen for potential complications, and provide guidance on nutrition, exercise, and prenatal supplements.

These visits often include measuring the baby's growth, listening to the heartbeat, and conducting necessary laboratory tests. Consistent prenatal care can help ensure a healthier pregnancy, reduce the risk of complications, and improve outcomes for both mother and baby.

  • Birth

Your midwife will be on call from 37 weeks until delivery for you! Home birth offers a personalized approach to childbirth, allowing families to welcome their newborn in the comfort of their own homes. This option provides expectant parents with greater control over their birthing environment, often promoting a sense of security and relaxation.

Many families choose home birth for the opportunity to have continuous support from midwives and loved ones, creating an intimate atmosphere for labor and delivery. Evidence based protocols are used and help to address any unforeseen complications for a beautiful birth!

  • Postpartum

Postpartum care includes initial care for you and your baby. A home visit will take place 24-48 hours after birth, at 2 weeks and 6 weeks postpartum. Postpartum care is an essential aspect of maternal health that focuses on the recovery and support of a birthing person after childbirth.

Regular check-ups with your midwife can help monitor emotional health. These visits allow healthcare providers to address any complications, assess overall health, and provide necessary screenings. Postpartum care is multifaceted, focusing on both physical recovery and emotional well-being.

Adequate support, proper medical follow-up, and self-care are vital components in ensuring a healthy transition into parenthood.

  • Newborn

Initial Newborn Care After Homebirth will include the “Golden Hour.” This helps regulate the baby's temperature, promotes bonding, and encourages breastfeeding. An initial assessment to ensure the baby is breathing well, has a good color, and is responsive. Check the heart rate and establish if any immediate medical attention is needed. Breastfeeding will be encouraged within the first hour after birth. This is not only beneficial for nutrition but also stimulates uterine contractions and promotes bonding.

At 24-48 hours a home visit will take place for observation and newborn screening. The screening will include the Metabolic Screening, CCHD and weight check. The Birth Certificate will be recorded and sent to Vital Statistics and Social Security information will be given.

A 2 week follow-up appointment for the newborn will be scheduled to monitor growth, development, and any concerns that may arise in the initial weeks.
